Description
This photograph was taken on the dramatic Black Sand Beach near the village of Vík on Iceland’s South Coast. It features a magnificent and mysterious basalt sea stack which, according to local legend, is an Icelandic sea troll who tried to drag a three-masted ship to land. Known as the Reynisdrangar Cliffs, it plays host to a number of wildlife including Arctic terns, fulmars and puffins.
